About Us

Disc Golf School LTD. was created in May 2017 by Richard Murphy, aka "RickRick," with the grand idea of changing the world with disc golf. So to talk about us, we must first talk about RickRick.

Why "RickRick?"

It was at a Burnlaw Equinox event way back in 2008 that a wonderful man by the name of Jesse Denny, merely wanted directions to a local store believed to be 30 minutes away.

A young Rick offered his navigational services and off they went into the hills of Allendale never to be seen again.....or not quite....but a short journey to the supermarket turned into no supermarket and a jolly around the hills for 3 hrs.

Jesse came back to the course, announcing how terrible at directions he was, "worse than a TomTom," hense.....RickRick, and it has stuck ever since.

Who is he?

RickRIck has always thrived on sports. From a very young age, his nanna, Marian, used to take him to Karate twice a week for years and has always supported him consistently.

He was inducted into the Newcastle Falcons Rugby Academy in year 7 & quickly made school captain for Rugby, Athletics & Cross Country. He also excelled in Gymnastics, Badminton, Basketball, Rowing and many other disciplines.

Sport is not only his passion but a lifesaver on more than one occasion.

Frisbee/Disc Sports soon took over everything when in 2007 he was hit with his very first flying disc. A 175g Discraft Ultra-Star in ruby red. The next day he tried disc golf for the first time too, using a pink Innova DX Shark. Want to know more about RickRick? Click the link below:

Why now?

Back in 2010, the original focus for, at the time, 19yr old RickRick, was a company called Catch the spirit. After spending 2 years along side the company owner, top touring pro Chris O'Brien, he began to see an opportunity emerging. The idea was called "Learn2Disc."

It was to be an academy for young children and people of all ages to come and learn the art of disc golf, not just the skills and techniques involved but the spirit, etiquette and attitude it welcomes and encourages.

After a little time away from the spotlight to focus on his personal game RickRick IS BACK with

DISC GOLF SCHOOL LTD.

It's the new and improved "Learn2Disc" with over 11 years experience in disc sports. We sponsor over 30 players globally in countries like Canada, USA, Poland, Rep. of Ireland & many more. We have professional coaches throughout the UK. We pride ourselves on having excellent customer service, a world class course installation package, fantastic international event organising and alternative thinking that only leads to success.

The Inspiration

He started the company for many reasons but there are a few that stick out. His younger brother Matthew is one of them. He is intelligent, funny and an awesome little guy but he seriously lacks the social "get up and go" attitude. The reason for this, like many others in his generation, is children are drawn to technology on a daily basis, whether it be social media, TV, Online Streaming Services or many other avenues.

Technology isn't bad. As a company, we love tech! But too much of it just isn't healthy so we challenge children to take some time away at least  once a week.

This is called the                            challenge.

,one of our sponsored players, is  the founder of the project/company and continues

to inspire in Canada.

Two other inspirations were: Sensei Ian Willis and Mr. Robert Leonard. RickRick's Karate instructor and PE teacher during middle school. Truly magnificent individuals. They were very focused, determined and loved their jobs. They knew how much of a difference they were making and they continue to inspire everyday.

The present & the future

After attending the WFDF World Overall Championships 2017 in Basingstoke, it soon became clear that other "disc sport families" like Freestyle, Double Disc Court, Discathon etc, need more attention just like Disc Golf. More awareness from the general public.

There is a disc sport out their for everyone and each discipline demands a different strategy. However Spirit & Fun are right at the top of the list. Disc Golf School needed a sister or two, to help the other frisbee sports, partners in crime if you will......

and                            &                                were born.

DGS continues to work with charities around the world and in doing so, our goal is to install more courses and have more people playing the sport, the right way. We have a heavy interest in schools throughout the country and hope to have a "disc golf course base of operations" very soon, (the very first, Disc Golf School), which will be based in Newcastle, England.

Looking forward, our number 1 priority is to grow all frisbee sports by continuing our work with the

                                                &

We will also expand our UK and international customer base and tend to our many business relationships.

will continue to grow and evolve.
